DALnet has been a part of my life for many years.
I first came by way of invitation from AsaHunt in #Christiandebate.
I came after the IRC wars destroyed MSCHAT.
I was made an op but never knew why. I had no idea what I was doing, but I learned. Over time if helped bring me out of my shyness. Through it all it was a good experience, As time went on I became founder. I made many people ops.
Profound was one, he was new but after talking to him and the person who recommended him, I made him an SOP, we became friends.
He learned quickly and eventually put a server on DALnet .. Koala.dal.net.
He asked me if I would be an oper.
I agreed because it was a way to give back to those who helped me.
I like helping people.
It’s come to a point where I have opportunities that will not allow me to give the room the attention it deserves. My return to music and maintaining my career, plus family and my church life will become my focus.
So, I am formally retiring as founder of #Christiandebate. After discussion with him, the support of Chuckwagon, I will step down to channel manager along with Chuckwagon and allow Ross to be founder. I will work under his direction and support him as I can.
The bots will remain and Jasonstratham will maintain and hopefully improve them. He will have a learning curve but he is an IP professional, which I am not.
I trust in Ross to be fair and make good decisions. He will be in total control. He has been a friend for many years and I have complete trust in him. The channel will go on and my hope it does better over time.
I want to thank all the friends who I have made and have supported me. I love you all and wish the best to you.

Our Guidelines for Chat
Channel Moderators are held to this standard from Titus: For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.
For ALL: Col 4:6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
For ALL: Eph 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
For ALL: 1 John 4:20-21 If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.
For ALL: Luke 6:31 And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them
For Chatters: 1 Cor 4:1 So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God.
For Moderators: And in no uncertain terms, We can be kind, giving, loving, caring and forgiving but we must hold God's word
For All: We need to respect each other ... and all need to respect the fact that this is #CHRISTIANDebate.
Rules of the Road
1. Channel Moderators (Ops) have the obligation to interpret and enforce all channel guidelines. Violations of these guidelines can result in a warning, devoice, kick, or ban. Everyone is entitled to an explanation based on the principals listed above. Moderators are required to give an explanation for an action to the person acted on. This does not mean extended debate. It does not mean that any person can request this, only the person acted on. Any other explanation is on a voluntary basis. If the explanation is unsatisfactory follow guideline two.
2. If you disagree with a Moderators decision, please remember they are doing their best. If you wish to appeal a decision you should respect the ops decision pending an appeal to a SOP, the channel manager or the founder. If you disagree with a ruling a Moderator has made, please, first take it to that Moderator in private message or #Christianops. Do not bring it up in channel unless a Moderator requests it or feels it is the best format. Raising such a contention in the channel itself is prohibited. You can send a memo to an SOP, Channel Manager or the Founder if you don't get a satisfactory response from the Moderator.
3. Placing a Moderator on ignore is prohibited, including the bots. Abusing the bots is also prohibited, such as flooding the channel with its use.
4. You may get permission to ignore an op from a SOP or Channel Manager.
5. Abusive, insulting, or vulgar remarks or nicknames are prohibited. This includes swearing, racism, lewdness, sexist remarks, personal insults and so forth. Be respectful to others in the channel, treating others as you would want to be treated.
6. Trolling is prohibited, as well as baiting, goading, ranting or other such gratuitous disruptions. This is a debate channel, not your personal soapbox. Beliefs, opinions, and ideas are encouraged, but you are expected to engage such things as a matter of dialogue, not monologue.
7. Disputes are to be handled in #Christianops or in PM, whichever the channel user wants
8. #ChristianOps is NOT a place to bash on a Moderator for hours on end.
9. Please leave all business about or from other channels outside of this one. What goes on in other channels is irrelevant to activities within this one.
10. We have some trusted people with the ability to reject channel floods. They have full authority to act in these situations.
This is an English-speaking channel, so please speak English. Greetings and occasional foreign phrases are ok on a limited basis
A lie is an intentional comment designed to deceive. It is not a lie, even if wrong, if the intent was not to deceive. A mistaken comment is not a lie unless the speaker knows it was incorrect.
The Channel Manager and Founder may make temporary exceptions to these guidelines as necessary to carry out the spirit of these guidelines and promote fairness for all.
For the purposes of this room, we understand God to be a Trinity of three co-eternal persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
